Peter M. Kersten aka Lawrence / Sten was first turned onto electronic music by the original wave of acid house, and by 1997 was producing his own music. His debut album on his own label Dial in 2002 and subsequent 12"s for Kompakt, Ladomat are a journey through techno beats and deep melancholia, music that rolls and shimmers with delicate bass lines and subtle nuances reminiscent of the emotive twists and turns of classical composition. Kersten has toured extensively through Russia, the United States, South America, all over Europe and Japan. He released a compilation in 2006 of his best tracks, remixes and some exclusive new tunes. His musical muscle extends to many more projects - Sten is strictly about the dancefloor, Lloyd focuses on abstract minimal hip hop, and Kersten also produces an ambient guitar quartet called Bordeaux. He has also remixed the likes of Martin Gore, Goldfrapp, Turner and Superpitcher.
